Nippattu are crispy deep fried rice crackers from Karnataka cuisine. These are eaten as a Evening Snack and are also made during festivals. Nippattu are similar to Thattai from Tamilnadu and Chekkalu from Andhra pradesh. Kara Nippat is a crispy, golden & deliciously spicy cracker made with rice flour, fried gram, peanuts, dried coconut and sesame seeds.

To get started with this recipe, we must first prepare a few ingredients. You can cook nippattu using 12 ingredients and 3 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Nippattu:
  1. Get 1 1/2 cup rice flour
  2. Get 1/2 cup soaked chana dal
  3. Take 2 tsp roasted peanuts
  4. Get 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  5. Take 1/6 tsp red chilli powder
  6. Prepare 1 whole red chilli
  7. Make ready 1 tsp cumin seeds
  8. Take To taste salt
  9. Get as needed Water
  10. Get Pinch Hing(asafoetida)
  11. Prepare 1 tbsp oil
  12. Prepare as needed Oil for frying

Every family has its own recipe but rice flour remains the main ingredient in nippattu. Nippattu is a very spicy, crunchy and tasty snack. There are many variations of Nippatu recipes from family to family. This nippattu recipe is from my mother, and every time I prepare this crunchy cracker following my Mom's steps, it turns out excellent.

Steps to make Nippattu:
  1. Firstly take roasted peanuts, whole red chilli, cummin seeds, grind with grinder.
  2. In a bowl add rice flour,salt,soaked chana Dal,oil, grinded masala make a dough with water and rest for 5 mint.
  3. Take a small portion of dough and make a ball. With help of hands make a small Puri and fry in heat oil. Serve with green Coriander sauce
