- Make ready About six big seeds of fresh tomatoes
- Take Fresh pepper
- Take Dry fish
- Make ready Palm oil
- Make ready Potash
- Make ready Blended crayfish

The Beni Owo soup is a traditional soup of the Southern region of Nigeria. It is a delicacy enjoyed by the people of Benin, Delta, Itsekiri, Ijaw, Isoko. It is easy to prepare and can be eaten with. According to Itsoken(from the Isoko tribe) Owo soup is prepared by adding some kind of carb/starch, which could be either sifted garri, edible starch or yam; and no tomato is added.
Instructions to make Bini version of Owo and yam:
- Wash and blend your fresh tomatoes and fresh pepper
- Put in a pot and start boiling
- Season and boil your dry fish to get some fish stock
- Add your fish stock, fish, and crayfish, then continue boiling the blended pepper mix, boil till almost dried dry
- Break some potash into powder form and add, then put off your heat.
- Allow to cool a little, not completed cool
- Add your palm oil and stir, you will notice the Owo will start thickening as it mix up with palm oil, you will also notice the yellowish color becoming visible, if not add a little more potash till it mixes properly with oil, the palm oil is not suppose to float on top if not you have done something wrong.
- Serve with boiled plantain or yam
It is easy to prepare and can be eaten with.
