Yes now we are in hot summers and I am sharing this recipe which has been in the drafts for too long. A dish widely prepared in Uttar Pradesh, this traditional UP Style Matar Ka Nimona is made using peas and just a few spices.
To begin with this particular recipe, we must first prepare a few ingredients. You can have matar nimona using 9 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you can achieve it.
The ingredients needed to make Matar Nimona:
- Get 1 cup fresh peas
- Take 2 potatoes
- Take 1 tomato
- Get 1 inch ginger
- Make ready 2 green chillies
- Make ready 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Prepare 1/2 tsp asafoetida
- Make ready 1 tbsp ghee
- Get Salt, turmeric, chilly, corriander cumin, powder as per taste
Matar ka Nimona, a UP style Indian curry made with fresh green peas, potatoes and very minimal spices. Tasty soupy curry, this is perfect to pair with rice or chapati/paratha. If you do not get fresh peas, you can use frozen ones. Matar Nimona is a winter side dish which is specially prepared in Uttar Pradesh region.
Steps to make Matar Nimona:
- Wash peas and grind coarsely in mixture.
- Saute potato in ghee on low flame. Take out potatoes once 80% cooked.
- In same pan add peas and saute it.
- Add ginger chilli paste. Add chopped tomato. Add spices and salt and saute it until vapour evaporates.
- Add 1 glass water to it and cook it on medium flame.
- Add Sauted potatoes to it and cook it on slow flame.
- Garnish with corriander and enjoy this Matar Nimona with paratha or rice.
