Melt butter, allow to cool to room temperature. Combine sugar and buttermilk in a large bowl. Combine the semolina, vanilla, baking powder and baking soda in a separate bowl. Add semolina mixture to buttermilk mixture, mix well, then add melted butter, and mix well.

  1. Mix all the ingredients well then pour on greased baking tray
  2. Bake on 180c for 1 hour
  3. Prepare sugar syrup.In a pot add sugar,water, lemon juice boil it fr 5mins on medium flame,till it's almost 1 string consistency (keep stiring til sugar dissolves)
  4. Pour the room temperature syrup when basbousa is hot (once out of oven).Garnish with coconut whilt hot
