Idli is our favorite breakfast and so I make these soft and fluffy steamed rice-lentil cakes usually on weekends. Ragi idli's are prepared using idli rice, urad dal and ragi flour/finger millet flour. These idlis are soft and tasty just like our regular rice idli, but has ragi in it. Ragi known as Finger millet or nachni is one of the nutritious cereals rich in calcium, iron, potassium and fiber.

Steps to make Finger Millet Ragi / nachni Idli:
  1. Soak Urad dal,idli rice fenugreek seeds and Poha seperately for 6 hrs.after drain the water and grind it into fine batter.
  2. Then add ragi flour to the batter.add water to adjust the batter consistency.mix it well.let it allow to ferment for 9 hrs or overnight.
  3. Now batter level is rise and double in size.mix it well.add soda and salt mix well.now pour batter into idli plates.and steam the idli maker for 20 min.
  4. Healthy finger Millet idli is ready.serve with coconut chutney.
